Night haiku

Clear cold night sky shines

Constellations sparkle bright

Blue, silver adorned.

Sunday Swimmers

To the beach on a Sunday morning.

The strip off perfected to a fine art.

A brave few leave behind small mounds,

moving deftly towards the icy waves.

Up to the knees the first challenge,

the cold merciless and shocking,

witnessed by arms that rise up and up in spasms.

Gradually howls suppress, bodies submerge and give way to sighs –

the hard part is done.

Back to the shore to recover,

the bodies tested, retreating into their warm cups and home.

Bedtime

Tiredly I nod my head so quietly get into bed

Duvet crinkle my weary wonder, drawn up tight and I down under.

Sleeping and dreaming are coming soon as I drift off by the light of the moon.
