Message in a Bottle

Where the river meets the sea,

Is the place I'll always be.

Where currents clash and waters duel,

Where rocks are sharp, and winds are cruel.

It's there, I saw a bottle float,

And within, I found your note.

You cannot mean the words I read,

How they tumble in my head.

Don't say our love is obsolete,

You're but a victim of deceit.

A temptress seized your faithful heart,

And tore its tender flesh apart.

She forced your hand upon the page,

In a wicked, jealous rage.

Her venom tipped your noble quill,

And scrawled her schemes against your will.

She holds you captive in her arms,

And bewitches you with charms.

However will I break this spell,

And bid this sorcery farewell?

She may be more fair than I,

But I offered you my sky

Of diamonds set in sapphire blue,

For all our dawns and twilights too.

I've sent letters in the post,

And messengers from coast to coast.

You are nowhere to be found,

By this dark magic we are bound.

Never since, has word returned,

So here I stand, a lover spurned,

Where the river meets the sea,

Hoping that you'll come back to me.
