The Reason

A wounded heart

Drowning in resistance

To heal from the inside

Fearing the reopening

Of stitches

Their edges fraying

Beyond repair…..

Feeling the loss so deeply

Resolution made

Love would not live

Here again

The former version

Of herself

Used to believe

There was a reason

For everything

Well meaning friends

Reinforced this prophecy

As she tried to conceal

Her rising irritation

And lack of faith

In the notion of it all

Then the unexpected happened

For no apparent reason

Other than it was meant to be

Their first meeting

Taking a chance

He didn’t seem to mind

That she was preloved

Soon he became her everything

And the reason why

The stitches in her heart

Slowly dissolved

Love Is In The Stars

Holding on tight

To the tail of the comet

Afraid of returning

To earths atmosphere

Having already being

Burned in a fiery jet stream

Almost beyond recognition

Searching to find

A place to hide

Among the stars

Who had surrendered

Their twinkling light

To brighter heavenly bodies

On earth below

The star catcher watched her

As she flitted frantically

Across the sky

In an unrehearsed dance

Her tiny movements

Enchanting him

And as he cast his net

Toward the midnight sky

Her eyes captured

The fated moment

She spied her chance

To be a falling star

Taking a leap of faith

Into his waiting arms
