A blanket of stars

As darkness falls upon the day like a black tide across the land

and lights in windows glow like fireflies in jam jars,

a soft acceptance descends as she lays her head,

to rest on the dreams that are slowly slipping away.

She rises with the sun and dances in the shadows,

her breath is the wind through the trees,

a spirit shimmering in the silver of the water,

love falling with the rain,

she held her hand as the soft sun set,

and the night covered her with a blanket of stars
