THE GIRL AND THE DRAGON

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rukgKds1txA The stars sail away 'cross the heavens to vanish and sometimes to fall And a girl stands alone in a doorway with the loneliest wish of them all For the man of her dreams is still sleeping like the dragon in some old fairy tale The girl in the doorway is weeping as she watches a star fall and fail And she wishes her heart will be granted the love of a dragon who sleeps In a cave on the side of a mountain unaware of the tears that she weeps A girl walks alone by the river, searching the woods for a sign She'll wait for her dragon forever, forever is such a long time The dragon is terribly busy, breathing the fire of his kind He makes his way down to the river and the girl he is destined to find She asks him what will he be having, "The heart of a girl", he replies "One that is truly worth having, one that refuses to die!" From the east came a rider on horseback, a valiant St. George of the lance Whose business was murdering dragons and teaching young maidens to dance He rode his horse down to the river and he challenged the dragon to fight He came and he saw and he conquered, but alas to no maiden’s delight For there in the dust lay no dragon but a dying young beautiful man Transformed by the sword of a vision to a meaningless death on the sand The stars sail away 'cross the heavens to vanish and sometimes to fall And a girl stands alone in a doorway with the loneliest wish of them all For the man of her dreams is still sleeping like the dragon in some old fairy tale The girl in the doorway is weeping as she watches a star fall and fail And she wishes her heart will be granted the love of a dragon who sleeps In a cave on the side of a mountain unaware of the tears that she weeps
