The Place I Am From

I was a star once in the indigo sky.

High above the blue, brown, burnt orange

and green map of the world.

I twinkled as a tiny star far away

cartwheeling with Jupiter, Pluto, Mars.

The Moon mothered us wee shiny ones,

gathered us into constellations.

People looked up at the place I am from

pointed out Orion and his chariot

called out " Look it's a bear, a plough.

Now I am sprinkled into life on earth

I too look up on a starry night

at the place I am from.
